Introduction of Department of Physics:
The department was introduced by the Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal under the affiliation of Vidyasagar University. The department starts its journey on the academic session 2015-2016 with the then 3-tire general course only. In the session 2018-2019 Honours course was introduced with the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS).

Currently the department covers approximately 2500 sq. ft. of area having 3 laboratories. The department is well equipped with one optics laboratory (name after Prof. C.V. Raman), one electronics laboratory (name after Prof. J.C. Bose) and one general physics laboratory (name after prof. S.N. Bose) for the practical of the students of Core Courses, Generic Elective and Discipline Specific Core courses. Also there are 2 lecture rooms dedicated for the department and 1 smart classroom for Interactive teaching learning method. Students enjoy the practical classes with the well-equipped laboratories.
Resources:
Currently the department has 3 full time teachers and nearly 250 numbers of reputed books in the library. We try our level best to inspire the students in building their concepts in the subject so that they can take a beautiful smell of physics and motivate themselves for higher studies with the subject.
