Gender Equity and Inclusivity
Gender equity refers to fairness and justice in the distribution of benefits and responsibilities between women and men. The concept recognizes that women and men have different needs and power and that these differences should be identified and addressed in a manner that rectifies the imbalance between the sexes.
- In order to promote gender equity within the campus the Government General Degree College, Salboni has undertaken a gender audit and accordingly has adopted a Gender Action Plan.
- The college has a well-functioning Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) that works to prevent gender-based discrimination/violence within the campus. The ICC also reviews the complaints of sexual harassment by women staff and students.
- The college in collaboration with NSS unit celebrates Women’s Day to sensitize girl students of our institution. A special talk on ‘Narir Adhikar’ by Roshenara Khan, social activist and writer was organized as a part of Students, Week-2023.
