Internal Complaints Committee (ICC)

The “Internal Complaints Committee” of Government General Degree College, Salboni is designated under UGC Notification (2015) for Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal of Sexual Harassment of Women Employees and Students in Higher Educational Institutions.  The Internal Complaints Committee works to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace. It provides comprehensive support against any complaint of sexual harassment at workplace. All students and teaching and non-teaching staff of the college are requested to feel free to discuss any issue related to this matter with the Committee. Please contact the committee members for any type of assistance. The following constitute sexual harassment under the said Act.

• Physical contact and advances; or
• A demand or request for sexual favours; or
• Making sexually coloured remarks; or
• Showing pornography; or
• Any other unwelcome physical, verbal or non-verbal conduct

Functions of ICC

In-charge of ICC formally addresses complaints regarding sexual harassment in the workplace. They receive complaints, investigate them within a set timeframe, and recommend disciplinary actions (if required) in accordance with the rules and procedures laid down herein.

The ICC keeps the complainant’s identity confidential and ensures their safety throughout the process.

The ICC conducts campaigns to educate everyone in the institution about what constitutes sexual harassment and how to report it.

The ICC is responsible for enforcing the institution’s policy of zero tolerance towards sexual harassment.
